Plush accomodations for horse and rider. Located in the center of Old Dominion Hounds territory.

Come a day early to get ready for Oct. 14 with Rappahanock Hunt. The fixture - Mont Elery - is less than 10 miles from Hunter's Rest.

Oct. 15 meet Sunday with Middleburg will be less than 25 miles from Hunter's Rest.

Take a day of rest Monday - shop at Horse Country, see the sights.

Oct. 17 meet Tuesday with Old Dominion may even meet at Hunter's Rest! Several meets are within hacking distance, but any shipping distance will be quite short - 2-4 miles.

Oct. 18 meet Wednesday with Bull Run is about 25 miles from Hunter's Rest.

Oct. 19 meet Thursday with Casanova is about 20 miles from Hunter's Rest.

Oct. 20 meet Friday with Colonial is about 70 miles (an hour and a half) from Hunter's Rest, so it is quite possible to stay at Hunter's Rest Thursday night after Casanova and ship out early to make the meet at Colonial.

Later in Hunt Week, Hunter's Rest is convenient to Keswick (Oct. 23, Monday) - about 40 miles, and Farmington (Oct. 26, Thursday) is about 60 miles, so it is possible to base at Hunter's Rest for a good portion of the week. Old Dominion welcomes cappers Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays for those who wish to stay based in one place and cap with ODH or other local hunts (there are 12!)

Basic rate is $75 per night - one person, one horse. Includes hay for the horse and breakfast for the owner. Discounts for multi-night stays.

For horses: Hunter's Rest has 6 box stalls available, (and 6 more 'temporary' stalls for turnout horses) with 8 separate turnout areas, including 6 new small paddocks. There is a hot-cold wash stall; water buckets and feed tubs are in place in each stall; guests may use my horse vacuum; there is ample room for trailer parking; etc.

For owners: Hunter's Rest has seven rooms, most en suite. My mom's house nearby has 3 rooms - most en suite, 4 turnout paddocks, plenty of parking, etc. Same rates apply. Fixed price dinners are available for $25 (soup to nuts - salad, main course, dessert, beer or wine) and to-go lunches can be packed for the road ($5.) Hunter's Rest has an extensive horse and field sports library, lots of horse videos, satellite television, alarm clocks in each room, plush towels and robes, fireplace and wood stove -- all the amenities at "working horseman" prices.
