Jaunty's Arrival

On the morning of June 2nd, farm owner Pam Dors noticed signs that Greetings was getting ready to foal. She called Linda, and we packed up and headed out for foal watch.

Greetings in Wide Ride mode (June 2nd, 2004).

There were 4 humans and various other bed-stealing companions for the campout in the barn.

As Matt noted, A watched mare never foals (June 2nd, 2004).

Greetings finally went into action on our second night of foal watch.

Our first view of the new arrival was a forefoot, still in the sac (June 3rd, 2004).

Linda served as assistant equine midwife, under direction from Pam.

Linda toweled the foal dry, while Greetings prepared to meet the emerged alien (June 3rd, 2004).

Greetings contemplating her new role.
