This was not only Jaunty's first show, but also his first long trailer ride, and his first sleep-away camp!
It was a great new experience, and Jaunty seemed to enjoy sight-seeing all over the show grounds.
We strutted Jaunty's stuff in a couple of halter classes.
We tried a sport horse class (Jaunty demonstrated his de-braiding skill).
Standing quietly for the judge was the hardest part.
Halter Handling was like a mini obstacle course. We had to open and close gates,
walk and trot over ground poles,
and sidepass (step sideways) while straddling a ground pole.
Jaunty also had to stand quietly while Linda put a saddlepad on his back,
back in a straight line between poles,
and walk past scary balloons.
He had to stand "ground tied" while Linda picked up his hind foot. Unfortunately, she forgot to tell him not to play with the traffic cone.
We all (including the judge) had a good laugh about it.
Jaunty seemed to take the day's excitement in stride, relaxing in his stall between classes.
And we took home a few souvenirs.
